Plans shift for retail near S. Meridian Costco

A plan for more retail across from Meridian’s newest Costco is back, with changes.
New preliminary documents show plans for a commercial development on the northeast corner of Meridian Rd. and Lake Hazel have shifted from larger to smaller buildings.
As BoiseDev reported, the previous corner design featured three buildings labeled as “proposed” and three labeled as “potential.” The largest of the proposed buildings was 20,515 square feet.
Now, updated plans call for seven buildings, all labeled as “future buildings.” A total of 33,755 square feet of retail space is planned for the just-over-eight-and-a-half-acre site.
Early site plans show three planned drive-thru buildings. One has three lanes merging into one at a 1,200 square foot building. Another has two lanes wrapping around a 3,075 square foot building. The last one has two lanes merging into one that wraps around a 3,180-square-foot building. All the drive-thrus front Meridian Rd.

Previous planning materials said developers were interested in filing the development with “multiple national and regional retailers.” The previous planning documents submitted to the city showed the project was the product of Lockehouse Retail Group.
Lockehouse has developed several stores and shopping centers throughout the western United States. The company has worked with retailers and grocers like Sprouts, Bi-Mart, Trader Joe’s, El Pollo Loco, Kohl’s, and Target. It has an Idaho office in Eagle.
Plans are in the early stages and can change. As noted in a previous article, before any project on this property can move forward, an official permit application would have to be submitted to the city. Then, the developers would have to go through the approval process for rezoning and any needed conditional use permits.
