Big 5 set to close local store location
Another sporting goods store near Boise Towne Square is closing.
Big 5 Sporting Goods at 101 N. Milwaukee St in the Westpark Towne Plaza shopping center has started a liquidation sale. A closing date has not yet been announced.
Another Big 5 location closed late last year, when the store in the Plantation Shopping Center also held a liquidation sale and shuttered.
Big 5 will now be left with a single Treasure Valley location, with its store in the former Karcher Mall on Nampa-Caldwell Blvd. in Nampa.
The California-based sporting goods store operates about 400 stores with name-brand sporting goods across team sports, fitness, camping, and other categories. The chain is also closing a store location in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The chain was acquired by new owners last year.
Big 5 joins another sporting goods store near the mall, Al’s Sporting Goods, in launching closing sales in recent months. Al’s started winding down operations this summer and will close by October 17th, as BoiseDev reported.
