First eviction. Then an auction sale fell through. Now, Boise will take over empty aiport hotel

The Airport Inn has new owners, again.

As BoiseDev reported, the hotel located at 2660 W. Airport Wy. in Boise experienced shifting ownership over the past two and a half years. After the City of Boise evicted its previous owners, Ada County took possession of the building, and an auction for the structure was held.

According to Ada County Communications Manager Elizabeth Duncan, after the auction sale fell through, the county has found a new buyer in the City of Boise.

The City of Boise already owns the land the hotel sits on. With the purchase of the hotel, the city will have full control of the site. Boise Airport Marketing Manager Shawna Samuelson told BoiseDev no plans for the site have been decided on yet.

“The next airport director will play a key role in determining the property’s future,” Samuelson said. “Options could include rehabilitating the building for a future lease or redeveloping the site in a manner consistent with the airport’s FAA-approved master plan, which is currently being updated.”

The building has been vacant since 2024, when the city evicted the former owners. As BoiseDev reported, the city cited illegal drug activity, a spike in police and EMS calls to the area, and what the city claimed were ‘several discrepancies’ in business practices as reasons for the former owner’s eviction.

The property was then auctioned off to SolPacific LLC and Pacific West Communities — one of the companies under The Pacific Companies umbrella — in 2025 for $433,773.35, as BoiseDev reported. The money was to go toward unpaid taxes as well as costs and fees incurred by the county in relation to the property.

Duncan said the original auction sale to The Pacific Companies fell through because “Pacific Companies needed to negotiate with Boise to approve the lease. They could not come to an agreement with the City of Boise, so they canceled the agreement.”

The City of Boise will now purchase the building from the county for $170,970.08, uniting the ownership of the land and structure.

After the deal closes, city documents state the county will remit the base tax amount of $107,974.73 with the next scheduled property tax distribution, meaning the net purchase cost of the Airport Inn will come out to $62,995.35.

According to Boise Airport Communications and Marketing Manager Jennifer Kronberg, Pacific Companies intended to turn the Airport Inn into a housing project, but was “unable to come to lease terms that would work for both parties.”

Pacific Companies’ CEO Caleb Roope did not return a request for comment.
